The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre (TOHRC) is a tertiary care facility located on the General Campus site of The Ottawa Hospital. The Centre has the capacity to provide specialized inpatient rehabilitation for 21 people with spinal cord injury on the Neurospinal Unit. With a therapy pool, virtual reality laboratory (CAREN) and access to outdoor pathways our patients have the opportunity to experience a variety of treatment options that can be tailored to their individual rehabilitation needs. This is especially important for the patients who come to our facility from remote and rural areas such as Northern Ontario and Nunavut. Our multi-disciplinary clinical care team includes physiatry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, psychology/neuropsychology, speech-language pathology, vocational therapy, recreation therapy and clinical nutrition. Patients also have access to highly specialized technologists who work in the Prosthetics and Orthotics lab and Rehabilitation Engineering department, both of which are located on-site. Rehabilitation outpatient services, including a specialized driving assessment program, are also available.
